The Gathering of the Community
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
And also with you.
Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord
The Collect of the Day
Let us pray.
Almighty God, you sent your Son Jesus Christ to be the light of the world. Free us from all that darkens and ensnares us, and bring us to eternal light and joy; through the power of him who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The Proclamation of the Word
Reading: 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13
A
Reading From The Second Letter Of Paul To The Thessalonians
Now we command you, beloved in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from believers who are living in idleness and not according to the tradition that they received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you, and we did not eat anyone's bread without paying for it; but with toil and labour we worked night and day, so that we might not burden any of you. This was not because we do not have that right but in order to give you an example to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: Anyone unwilling to work should not eat. For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work. Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right.
For the Word of God in scripture, among us and with us.
Thanks be to God.
Canticle 3 (Isaiah
12:2-6)
Surely, it is God who saves me; I will trust in
him and not be afraid. For the Lord is my stronghold and my sure defence, and
he will be my Saviour. Therefore you shall draw water with rejoicing from the
springs of salvation.
You shall draw water with rejoicing.
And on that day you shall say, Give thanks to the Lord and call upon his name; make his deeds known among the peoples; see that they remember that his name is exalted.
You shall draw water with rejoicing.
Sing the praises of the Lord, for he has done great things, and this is known in all the world. Cry aloud, inhabitants of Zion, ring out your joy, for the great one in the midst of you is the Holy One of Israel.
You shall draw water with rejoicing.
361 Surely It Is
God Who Saves Me
The Gospel: Luke
21:5-19
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
When some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God, Jesus said, "As for these things that you see, the days will come when not one stone will be left upon another; all will be thrown down." They asked him, "Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign that this is about to take place?" And he said, "Beware that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name and say, 'I am he!' and, 'The time is near!' Do not go after them. When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately." Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and plagues; and there will be dreadful portents and great signs from heaven. But before all this occurs, they will arrest you and persecute you; they will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. This will give you an opportunity to testify. So make up your minds not to prepare your defence in advance; for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, by relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your souls."
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

The Prayers of the People
Called to an endurance of faith, let us offer our prayers to God who proclaims to us the good news of Christ, saying, hear our prayer.
For
the Church: for Shane our Primate, and Sandra our bishop, that together we may
continue to offer faithful witness to God’s abiding care for us and always to
live as those who are alive in Christ. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For
this parish: for our shared vision to be a people of love and justice, that we
may be rich in faith, love, and good works, that we who celebrate this
Eucharist in joyful hope may be transformed in Christ as children of the
resurrection. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For
all who work for peace; for peace in Gaza, Ukraine and Sudan, that your Holy Spirit
will help nations overcome suspicion, find new understanding of our shared
humanity, and rejoice in opportunities for cooperation, and bring an end to
violent conflicts, God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For
those who are in despair: for those who struggle to find justice and truth,
that you will surround them in love. That the chasm between rich and poor in the
world closes, that we may use our time, talent, and treasure to develop new
possibilities for serving the hungry and needy. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For
all who are in danger and need: for the hungry, the homeless and the oppressed:
for all refugees and immigrants who have left their homelands in search of
safety and a better life, that they may find welcome and a place to live in
freedom, dignity and peace. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For
those threatened by storms, fires and floods, and for all those in need of our
prayers. We pray at this time for those we know who are ill at home or in
hospital, especially:
- …
… and those we may name out loud, or in our hearts:
-
… that you will give them the gift of new life and hope. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For
all those who have died in the peace of Christ and whose faith is known to you
alone, remembering especially;
-
… that they may live in your peace forever, and we pray for comfort to all who mourn. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
O God, the one who redeems and sustains us, visit your people and
pour out your strength and courage upon us, that we may hurry to make you
welcome not only in our concern for others, but by serving them generously and
faithfully, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Confession and Absolution
Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.
Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and
deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and
keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Peace
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

The Celebration of the Eucharist
The Prayer over the Gifts
Let us pray,
Holy God, in this eucharist we renew our baptismal covenant. Help us, through our offering this day, to renounce all things that draw us from your love. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Great Thanksgiving – Eucharistic
Prayer 1
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is indeed right that we should praise you,
gracious God, for you created all things. You formed us in your own image: as
your children you created us. When we turned away from you in sin, you did
not cease to care for us, but opened a path of salvation for all people. You
made a covenant with Israel, and through your servants Abraham and Sarah gave
the promise of a blessing to all nations. Through Moses you led your people
from bondage into freedom; through the prophets you renewed your promise of
salvation.
Therefore, with them, and with all your saints
who have served you in every age, we give thanks and raise our voices to
proclaim the glory of your name.
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Holy God, source of life and goodness, all
creation rightly gives you praise. In the fullness of time, you sent your Son
Jesus Christ, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to
reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He healed the sick and ate and
drank with outcasts and sinners; he opened the eyes of the blind and proclaimed
the good news of your kingdom to the poor and to those in need. In all things
he fulfilled your gracious will.
On the night he freely gave himself to death, our
Lord Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: this is my body which is
given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he
had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: this
is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the
forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
Gracious God, his perfect sacrifice destroys the
power of sin and death; by raising him to life you give us life for evermore.
Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
Recalling his death, proclaiming his
resurrection, and looking for his coming again in glory, we offer you, Father,
this bread and this cup. Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts,
that all who eat and drink at this table may be one body and one holy people, a
living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in
the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, almighty Father, now and for
ever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
Creator of all,
you gave us golden fields of wheat,
whose many grains we have gathered
and made into this one bread.
So may your Church be gathered
from the ends of the earth
into your kingdom.
The gifts of God for the People of God.
Thanks be to God.
Lamb of God
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
grant us your peace.
