The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
And also with you.
In the days to come
the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall tower as the highest of mountains.
and be raised above the hills.
There shall all the nations flow;
many peoples shall come and say,
"Let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
that we may walk in his paths.
For the law shall go out from Zion,
from Jerusalem the word of the Lord,
He shall judge between many nations
and decide for many peoples.
They shall beat their swords into ploughshares,
their spears into pruning knives.
nation shall not lift sword against nation;
they shall never train for war again.
O people of Jacob, come,
let us walk in the light of the Lo
528 O God Our Help in Ages Past
Let us pray,
O God, it is your will to hold both heaven and earth in a single peace. Let the desire of your great love shine on the waste of our wraths and sorrows, and give peace to your Church, peace among nations, peace in our homes, and peace in our hearts; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

They shall grow not old,
as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
and in the morning we will remember them.
We will remember them.
O Canada
O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The true north strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Let us pray,
Eternal God, who caused all holy scriptures to be written for our learning, grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
The Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel's call and with the sound of God's trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church
Thanks be to God
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, "Then the kingdom of heaven will be like this. Ten bridesmaids took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. When the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, all of them became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a shout, 'Look! Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.' Then all those bridesmaids got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise replied, 'No! there will not be enough for you and for us; you had better go to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.' And while they went to buy it, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went with him into the wedding banquet; and the door was shut. Later the other bridesmaids came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.' But he replied, 'Truly I tell you, I do not know you.' Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour."
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Generous God, you raise up the humble and poor; you inspire us to generosity and love: Hear us as we pray for all creation, saying: Hear our prayer.
Hear our prayer.
We pray for civilian women, children and men whose lives are harmed by war or terror, calling to mind in penitence the anger and hatreds of humanity; we pray for peacemakers and peacekeepers, and all who seek to keep this world secure and free; God of love:
Hear our prayer.
O God, enlighten our leaders and all in authority to forego the appearance of piety, the abuse of privilege, and the selfishness of power, that they may lead generously on behalf of the humble. We pray for all who bear the burden and privilege of leadership, political, military and religious; asking for gifts of wisdom and resolve in the search for reconciliation and peace. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
You call all in our community to the responsibilities of stewardship and mutual care: Grant us everything necessary for our common life and the wisdom and generosity to use our resources so that no one may be in want. We pray for all who suffer as a result of conflict and ask that we may know peace: we pray for the service men and women who have died in war and for those who love them. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
You love the humble and needy: Be with all for whom we pray, for those we know who are ill at home or in the hospital, especially…
-
And others we may name out loud, or in our hearts…
-
… that they will find strength and healing, God of love:
Hear our prayer.
Receive into your eternal and glorious reign those who have died in your peace, especially:
… and we pray for all who mourn. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those whose memory we cherish, and those whose names we will never know. Help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world, and grant us the grace to pray for those who wish us harm. As we honour the past, may we put our faith in your future; for you are the source of life and hope, now and for ever. Amen.
Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.
pardon and deliver you from all your sins,
confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.
The Prayer over the Gifts
Let us pray,
Gracious God, your word to us is food indeed. Receive all we offer you this day, and let your loving-kindness be our comfort, for the sake of Jesus Christ, your living Word. Amen.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Blessed are you, gracious God, creator of heaven and earth; we give you thanks and praise through Jesus Christ our Lord, whose victorious rising from the dead has given to us the hope of resurrection and the promise of eternal life. Therefore with angels and archangels and all who have served you in every age, we raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name.
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
we remember his death,
we proclaim his resurrection,
we await his coming in glory;
and we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine.
As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
Creator of all,
you gave us golden fields of wheat,
whose many grains we have gathered
and made into this one bread.
So may your Church be gathered
from the ends of the earth
into your kingdom.
Thanks be to God.
PB 4 My Peace (x3)
PB 115 Where the Spirit of the Lord Is (x2)
191 Peace I give to Thee
191 Peace I give to Thee
Let us pray,
Living God, in the eucharist you fill us with new hope. May the power of your love, which we have known in word and sacrament, continue your saving work among us, and bring us to the joy you promise. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Glory to God,
whose power, working in us,
can do infinitely more
than we can ask or imagine.
Glory to God from generation to generation,
in the Church and in Christ Jesus,
for ever and ever. Amen.
May the love and mercy of God for ever hold you, and keep you from all harm and oppression; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen.
Go forth into the world,
rejoicing in the power of the Spirit.
Thanks be to God.
