The Collect of the Day
Let us pray,
Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin and sent into our hearts the Spirit of your Son. Give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service, that all people may know the glorious liberty of the children of God; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The Proclamation of the Word –
Frist Reading: Isaiah 5:1-7
A Reading From The Book Of Isaiah
Let me sing for my beloved my love-song concerning his vineyard: My beloved had a vineyard on a very fertile hill. He dug it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; he expected it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes. And now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. What more was there to do for my vineyard that I have not done in it? When I expected it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes? And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down. I will make it a waste; it shall not be pruned or hoed, and it shall be overgrown with briers and thorns; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the people of Judah are his pleasant planting; he expected justice, but saw bloodshed; righteousness, but heard a cry!

Gospel: Luke 12:49-56
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, "I came to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! I have a baptism with which to be baptized, and what stress I am under until it is completed! Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division! From now on five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three; they will be divided: father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in law." He also said to the crowds, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, 'It is going to rain'; and so it happens. And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, 'There will be scorching heat'; and it happens. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?"
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

The Prayers of the Community
Let us join in prayer with God’s faithful people throughout the world, saying “hear our prayer.”

We pray for the unity of your church, that even amid disharmony and division our life may reflect the love you have shown us. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We ask your grace for Linda our Primate, Sandra our bishop, and for all who minister in word and action, that we may bear faithful witness to your good news, yielding a crop of justice and right-relationship. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We seek your peace and mercy in all the world, we pray especially for those places that are damaged by war and famine, we pray that those in need are not forgotten and will live with dignity. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We pray for this city of Charlottetown and for every community on this Island: for those who live here in faith. We give thanks for those who visit our Island home this summer and pray that their stay is safe and fun. God of love,
Hear our prayer.

We ask your blessing on our homes, our friends and family, and on those who live alone, that we may know of your presence in our lives. We pray for the victims of our society and those who endeavor to help them: and that we may remain true to our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous People. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We name before you all whom you have given us to pray for, especially those we know who are ill at home or in the hospital:
-
And those we may name out loud, or in our hearts:
-
knowing that you are doing for them better things than we can ask or imagine. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We commend to you all who have died in your peace, especially:
-
that our trust in you may deepen as you keep them safe in your care and we pray for all who mourn. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We offer our thanks and praise for all you have done for us, for this fertile land and sea, for trusting us with safeguarding the integrity of your creation, and helping to respect, sustain and renew the life of the Earth. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We look for your purposes to be accomplished and ask you to fill us with the strength to be the transforming community of love and justice that you call us to be. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

God of all the nations, help us to know how to interpret the present time, and surround us with so great a cloud of witnesses that we may have faith to live by your word, and the courage to persevere in this time. This we pray in Christs’ name. Amen.

Confession and Absolution
Dear friends in Christ,
God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy;
welcoming sinners and invites us to this table.
Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy upon you,
pardon and deliver you from all your sins,
confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in eternal life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Peace
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

The Celebration of the Holy Eucharist
Prayer over the Gifts
Let us pray,
Loving God and Father, you have adopted us to be your heirs. Accept all we offer you this day and give us grace to live as faithful children. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Eucharistic Prayer 2
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

We give you thanks and praise, almighty God, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer. He is your living Word, through whom you have created all things.

By the power of the Holy Spirit he took flesh of the Virgin Mary and shared our human nature. He lived and died as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.

In fulfilment of your will he stretched out his hands in suffering, to bring release to those who place their hope in you; and so he won for you a holy people.

He chose to bear our griefs and sorrows, and to give up his life on the cross, that he might shatter the chains of evil and death, and banish the darkness of sin and despair. By his resurrection he brings us into the light of your presence.

Now with all creation we raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name.
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Holy and gracious God, accept our praise, through your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ; who on the night he was handed over to suffering and death, took bread and gave you thanks, saying, “Take, and eat: this is my body which is broken for you.” In the same way he took the cup, saying, “This is my blood which is shed for you. When you do this, you do it in memory of me.”

Remembering, therefore, his death and resurrection, we offer you this bread and this cup, giving thanks that you have made us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you.

We ask you to send your Holy Spirit upon the offering of your holy Church. Gather into one all who share in these sacred mysteries, filling them with the Holy Spirit and confirming their faith in the truth, that together we may praise you and give you glory through your Servant, Jesus Christ.

All glory and honour are yours, Father and Son, with the Holy Spirit in the holy Church, now and for ever. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread
“I am the bread of life,” says the Lord.
“Whoever comes to me will never be hungry;
whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are they who trust in him!

Acclamation

‘Let light shine out of darkness’,
who has shone in our hearts
