Gathering of the Community
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
And also with you.
Bless the Lord who forgives all
our sins.
His mercy endures for ever.
Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hidden.
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession and Absolution
God so loved the world that he gave his only Son Jesus Christ to save us from our sins, to be our advocate in heaven, and to bring us to eternal life. Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, firmly resolved to keep God’s commandments and to live in love and peace with all.
Almighty
God, our heavenly Father,
we have sinned against you
and against our neighbour
in thought and word and deed,
through negligence, through weakness,
through our own deliberate fault.
We are truly sorry and repent of all our sins.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
who died for us, forgive us all that is past
and grant that we may serve you in newness of life
to the glory of your name. Amen.
Almighty God have mercy upon you,
pardon and deliver you from all your sins,
confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in eternal life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Jesus I Have Promised
The
Collect of the Day
Let us pray,
Most merciful God, by the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ, you created humanity anew. May the power of his victorious cross transform those who turn in faith to him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The Proclamation of the Word –
A Reading from The Book of Isaiah
Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, who brings out chariot and horse, army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick: Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. The wild animals will honour me, the jackals and the ostriches; for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people, the people whom I formed for myself so that they might declare my praise. (43:16-21)

The Gospel: John 12:1-8
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to ohn.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him. Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said, "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?" (He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.) Jesus said, "Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial. You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me."
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Sermon:
Prayers of
the People
With confidence and trust let us pray to the God of all creation, saying:
in your mercy hear us.
For the one holy catholic and apostolic Church throughout the world, for Linda our Primate, Sandra our Bishop, that in worship and witness, all people may come to know the extravagant grace poured out in Jesus Christ. Lord of compassion,
in your mercy
hear us.
For the vision and mission of this Parish, that in faithful witness we may show your love and justice in all that we do. We give thanks for this new thing that you do in the world, calling us to partner with you in making a truly just and peaceful place, a place where we who are continually forgiven by Christ, and anointed with mercy, may serve others in Jesus’ name. Lord of compassion,
in your mercy
hear us.
For help to honour the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission; to create equality and safety for visible minorities, women, and for everyone regardless of their sexual orientation. Lord of compassion,
in your mercy
hear us.
For peace in the world, that a spirit of respect and reconciliation may grow among nations and peoples, that the thunder of weapons may be silenced, and warriors lay down their arms, that we may see a springtime of harmony and peace in Ukraine. Lord of compassion,
in your mercy
hear us.
For the poor, the persecuted, the sick, and all who suffer. We give thanks for all who work the front lines in helping to fight the pandemic. We pray for all those throughout the world whose lives are threatened by war, famine, and disaster, that their fortunes may be restored with goodness, reconciliation, and peace. Lord of compassion,
in your mercy
hear us.
For those we know who are ill at home or in the hospital, especially,…
-
…and
for others, we may name out loud or in our hearts…
-
Lord of compassion,
in your mercy hear us.
For those whom we have injured or offended, for grace to amend our lives and to further your reign of love and mercy. Bless us in our efforts to bring an end to poverty. Lord of compassion,
in your mercy hear us.
In communion with all those who have walked in the way of holiness. We pray for those who have died, especially…
-
…and we also pray for comfort and peace to all those who mourn. Lord of compassion,
in your mercy hear us.
Blessed are you, God of eternal life who made a way for us in the wilderness. Receive the prayers we offer this day, and grant that we may joyfully proclaim the good news to all people, and serve the poor and needy, with Christ-like compassion, as we praise you, O Holy Trinity, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
The Peace
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

The Prayer over the Gifts
Let us pray,
Eternal God, your only Son suffered death upon the cross to bring the world salvation. Accept the praise and thanksgiving we offer you this day, in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.
The
Great Thanksgiving: adapted
from EP D, from Common Worship (C of E)
The Lord be with you
and also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give thanks and praise.
Almighty God, good Father to us
all, your face is turned towards your world. In love you gave us Jesus your Son
to rescue us from sin and death. Your Word goes out to call us home to the city
where angels sing your praise. We join with them in heaven’s song:
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Father of all, we give you thanks
for every gift that comes from heaven. To the darkness Jesus came as your
light. With signs of faith and words of hope he touched untouchables with love
and washed the guilty clean.
You are doing a new thing…
Give us rivers in the desert.
The crowds came out to see your Son, yet at the end they turned on him. On the night he was betrayed he came to table with his friends to celebrate the freedom of your people.
You are doing a new thing…
Give us rivers in the desert.
Jesus blessed you, Father, for the food; he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and said: This is my body, given for you all. Jesus then gave thanks for the wine; he took the cup, gave it and said: This is my blood, shed for you all for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in remembrance of me.
You are doing a new thing…
Give us rivers in the desert.
Therefore, Father, with this bread and this cup we celebrate the cross on which he died to set us free. Defying death he rose again and is alive with you to plead for us and all the world.
You are doing a new thing…
Give us rivers in the desert.
Send your Spirit on us now that by these gifts we may feed on Christ with opened eyes and hearts on fire. May we and all who share this food offer ourselves to live for you and be welcomed at your feast in heaven where all creation worships you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
We break this bread,
Communion in Christ’s body once broken.
Let your Church be the wheat
which bears its fruit in dying.
If we have died with him,
we shall live with him;
if we hold firm,
we shall reign with him.
Lamb of God
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
grant us your peace.
The
gifts of God for the People of God.
Thanks be to God.
