Let us pray.
Almighty God, you have built your Church on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Join us together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may become a holy temple, acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The Proclamation of the Word
Reading: 2 Timothy 1:1-14
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, for the sake of the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus, To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I am grateful to God - whom I worship with a clear conscience, as my ancestors did - when I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. Recalling your tears, I long to see you so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you. For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the lying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God, who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. For this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher, and for this reason I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know the one in whom I have put my trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard until that day what I have entrusted to him. Hold to the standard of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Guard the good treasure entrusted to you, with the help of the Holy Spirit living in us.

An Affirmation of Faith
(Colossians 3.10-16)
We clothe ourselves with the new self, according to the image of God our creator. We clothe ourselves without distinction of race, Creed or colour, we are one humanity; but Christ is all and in all! We clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
We clothe
ourselves with forgiveness; just as the Lord has forgiven us, so we also
will forgive. We clothe ourselves with love, which binds everything together in
perfect harmony. We clothe ourselves with the peace of Christ in our hearts. We
clothe ourselves with gratitude for all wisdom and praise. Amen.
The Prayers of the People
In peace, let us join in prayer with God’s faithful people throughout the world, with people of every Creed, saying “hear our prayer.”
We pray for the unity of your church, that our
life may reflect the love you have shown us, the peace you call us to and that
we will be transformed by your love and mercy. God of love:

We give thanks for Sandra our bishop, for all the clergy and all who minister in word and action, that we may bear faithful witness to your good news and proclaim with grateful hearts the love you have for every bit of creation. God of love:

We pray for peace and justice in our world, our country, and our community, and that those who are in any need may never be forgotten, that a way forward to peace may be found and pursued in all war-torn places on earth. We ask your blessing on our homes, our friends and family, and those who live alone, that we may know your presence and that we may be truly thankful for the bountiful creation, blessing us with the richness of land and sea. God of love:

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is indeed right that we should praise you,
gracious God, for you created all things. You formed us in your own image: as
your children you created us. When we turned away from you in sin, you did
not cease to care for us, but opened a path of salvation for all people. You
made a covenant with Israel, and through your servants Abraham and Sarah gave
the promise of a blessing to all nations. Through Moses you led your people
from bondage into freedom; through the prophets you renewed your promise of
salvation.
Therefore, with them, and with all your saints
who have served you in every age, we give thanks and raise our voices to
proclaim the glory of your name.
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Holy God, source of life and goodness, all
creation rightly gives you praise. In the fullness of time, you sent your Son
Jesus Christ, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to
reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He healed the sick and ate and
drank with outcasts and sinners; he opened the eyes of the blind and proclaimed
the good news of your kingdom to the poor and to those in need. In all things
he fulfilled your gracious will.
On the night he freely gave himself to death,
our Lord Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke
it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: this is my body which
is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when
he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you:
this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for
the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of
me.”
Gracious God, his perfect sacrifice destroys
the power of sin and death; by raising him to life you give us life for
evermore.
Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
Recalling his death, proclaiming his
resurrection, and looking for his coming again in glory, we offer you, Father,
this bread and this cup. Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts,
that all who eat and drink at this table may be one body and one holy people, a
living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in
the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, almighty Father, now and for
ever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
