The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.

Preparation
O Lord, open our lips
and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.
Your light springs up for the righteous
and all the peoples have seen your glory.

Blessed are you, Sovereign God, king of the nations,
to you be praise and glory for ever.
From the rising of the sun to its setting
your name is proclaimed in all the world.
As the Sun of Righteousness dawns in our hearts
anoint our lips with the seal of your Spirit
that we may witness to your gospel
and sing your praise in all the earth.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God for ever.

For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her vindication shines out like the dawn, and her salvation like a burning torch. First Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
A Reading From The First Letter Of Paul To The Corinthians
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, you were enticed and led astray to idols that could not speak. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says "Let Jesus be cursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.

Gospel Reading: John 2:1-11
A reading from the Gospel according to John
On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Now standing there were six stone water jars for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to them, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim. He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the chief steward." So they took it. When the steward tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward called the bridegroom and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now." Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

The Prayers of the Community
God of steadfast love, you instruct us with gentleness, encouraging us to live lives worthy of our Vision and Mission: Accept our prayers on behalf of your creation, and gather us in your loving presence, as we pray: Hear our prayer.
 
You have called your church into service: Inspire our generosity of word and deed, that we may join in your work of reconciliation. You lift the burden of those who suffer, and we seek your help to be a peaceful and productive community. God of love:
                Hear our prayer.
 
You inspire us to pray for the world: for your love for humanity was revealed in Jesus, whose earthly life began in the poverty of a stable and ended in the pain and isolation of the cross: we hold before you those who are homeless and cold especially in this bitter weather. Draw near and comfort them in spirit and bless those who work to provide them with shelter, food and friendship. God of love:
      Hear our prayer.
 
You humble the exalted and exalt the humble: Be with our leaders and all in authority that they may exercise their power in a spirit of service, with compassion for the Earth and all its creatures and ecological systems. We pray for peace in the world and relief from this pandemic and a blessing on all frontline and essential workers. God of love:
                Hear our prayer.
 
You bless this Parish with a spirit of service: Grant us the strength to be a people of transformative love and justice. At the beginning of this Week of Prayer for Christian Unity we pray for a spirit cooperation and kindness amongst all the many churches, and on this World Religion Day we pray for understanding and the strengthening of those things we hold in common. God of love:

You hear the hearts of all who are burdened: Accept our prayers on behalf of those we know who are ill at home, or in the hospital, especially:

We thank you for the beauty and wonder of creation, for all that is gracious in our lives, revealing the image of Christ; for our daily food, for our homes and families and friends; for minds to think and hearts to love; for health, strength, and skill to work, and for leisure to rest and play; for all who pursue peace, justice, and truth. God of love:
                Hear our prayer.
O God of steadfast love, at the wedding in Cana your Son Jesus turned water into wine, delighting all who were there. Transform our hearts by your Spirit, that we may use our varied gifts to show forth the light of your love as one body in Christ. Amen.
 
Confession and Absolution
Let us confess our sins
confident in God’s forgiveness.
 
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.
 
Almighty God have mercy upon you,
pardon and deliver you from all your sins,
confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in eternal life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
