The Gathering of the Community
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
And also with you.
Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
433 Lord, You
Give the Great Commission
The Collect of the Day
Let us pray.
Almighty God, we are taught by your word that all our doings without love are worth nothing. Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtue; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The Proclamation of the Word
Reading: Jeremiah 1:4-10
A
Reading From The Book Of Jeremiah
Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations." Then I said, "Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy." But the Lord said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a boy'; for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and you shall speak whatever I command you, Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord." Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth; and the Lord said to me, "Now I have put my words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant."
For the Word of God in scripture, among us and with us.
Thanks be to God.
Psalm
71:1-6
In you, O Lord, have I taken refuge; let me never be ashamed. In your righteousness, deliver me and set me free; incline your ear to me and save me.
From my mother's womb you have been my strength.
Be my strong rock, a castle to keep me safe; you are my crag and my stronghold. Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the clutches of the evildoer and the oppressor.
From my mother's womb you have been my strength.
For you are my hope, O Lord God, my confidence since I was young. I have been sustained by you ever since I was born; from my mother's womb you have been my strength; my praise shall be always of you.
From my mother's womb you have been my strength.

The Gospel:
Luke 13:10-17
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, "Woman, you are set free from your ailment." When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day." But the Lord answered him and said, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day?" When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing.
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Sermon
The Prayers of the People:
Let us offer our prayers to the source of all love and all life, saying, “hear our prayer.”
Merciful Lord, we pray for all who call
themselves Christians: that we may become a royal priesthood, a holy nation, to
the praise of Christ Jesus our Saviour. That together we may truly be the Body
of Christ in the world. Keep us faithful to our commitment to truth and
reconciliation with Indigenous people. God of love,
Hear our prayer.
We pray for all bishops and other ministers: that all of us may remain faithful to our calling and rightly proclaim the word of truth. God of love,
Hear our prayer.
We pray for the leaders of the nations, and all in authority: that all people may lead quiet and peaceable lives. We pray for peace in the world, in our community, in our homes and in our hearts. God of love,
Hear our prayer.
We pray for this city and surrounding communities and those who live here, the poor and the rich, the elderly and the young, men and women: and for those who visit our Island home this summer. God of love,
Hear our prayer.
We pray for the victims of our society and those who minister to them: that you will be their help and defense. Help us to create a community that is truly inclusive and affirming of all people. God of love,
Hear our prayer.
Strengthen all who give their energy or skill for the healing of those who are sick in body or in mind. We pray for all who are sick or in any need, remembering especially those we know who are ill at home or in the hospital,
-
… and others we may name out loud or in our hearts…
-
…that they may know your presence and healing power. God of love,
Hear our prayer.
Set free all who are bound by fear and despair. We pray for all in danger, for those who are far from home, prisoners, exiles, victims of oppression: grant them your salvation. And we pray for all who have died in the peace of Christ and whose faith is known to you alone, especially…
-
And for those who mourn. God of love,
hear our prayer.
Loving and gracious God, you care for all whom you have made and you invite us into your life of abundant kindness: Give us generous and compassionate hearts, that we may live in unity with one another in the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Savior, to whom we give glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Confession and Absolution
Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.
Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and
deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and
keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Peace
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

The Celebration of the Eucharist
The Prayer over the Gifts
Let us pray,
God of glory, receive all we offer this day as a symbol of our love, and increase in us that true and perfect gift. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Great Thanksgiving – Eucharistic Prayer 3
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Blessed are you, gracious God, creator of
heaven and earth; we give you thanks and praise through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who on this first day of the week overcame death and the grave, and by his
glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life.
In our unending joy we echo on earth the song
of the angels in heaven as we raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your
name.
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
We give thanks to you, Lord our God, for the goodness
and love you have made known to us in creation; in calling Israel to be your
people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word
made flesh, Jesus your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate
from the Virgin Mary, to be the Saviour and Redeemer of the world. In him, you
have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him,
you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out
of death into life.
On the night he was handed over to suffering and
death, a death he freely accepted, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when
he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and
said, “Take, eat: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the
remembrance of me.”
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had
given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: this is my
blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the
forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”
Therefore, Father, according to his command,
we remember his death,
we proclaim his resurrection,
we await his coming in glory;
and we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving
to you, Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this
wine.
We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit
upon these gifts, that they may be the sacrament of the body of Christ and his
blood of the new covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we, made
acceptable in him, may be sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
In the fullness of time, reconcile all things in
Christ, and make them new, and bring us to that city of light where you dwell
with all your children; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of
all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation;
by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of
the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, almighty Father, now and for
ever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
We break this bread
to share in the body of Christ.
We, being many, are one body,
for we all share in the one bread.
The gifts of God for the People of God.
Thanks be to God.
Lamb of God
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world
grant us your peace.
