November 21, the Reign of Christ – 10:00 am
The Holy Eucharist
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
And also with you.
Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let us pray.
Almighty and everlasting God,
whose will it is to restore all things
in your well-beloved Son, our Lord and King,
grant that the peoples of the earth,
now divided and enslaved by sin,
may be freed and brought together
under his gentle and loving rule;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Then Pilate entered the headquarters again, summoned Jesus, and asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered, "Do you ask this on your own, or did others tell you about me?" Pilate replied, "I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me. What have you done?" Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here." Pilate asked him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice."
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us pray to Christ, enthroned on high, who seeks the lost sheep, binds up the injured, and strengthens the weak, saying to God, hear our prayer.
For the Church: especially Linda, our Primate, and Sandra, our bishop-elect, that in all times and places we may bear witness to your reign of justice, mercy, love, and peace. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For this parish of St. Paul’s, that we may recognize Christ in one another, and respect the dignity of every person, and that we will be a people of love and justice, working to end poverty in here and around the world. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For strong faith, that in times of chaos and confusion, we may be confident that you will be with us at all times, including death, and lead us to fullness of life. We pray that together we will work diligently to bring about peace and safety for women and children. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For all elected officials, that they may follow the example of Jesus, who served those in need and reached out to those who were forgotten. We pray that together we will continue our work to bring about a real chance for truth and reconciliation with First Nations people. We pray for the people of British Columbia and all who are affected by the flooding, that they may know of your love in the hands of those who reach out to help. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For all who are sick, that you will heal them, and give strength to those who care for them. We pray for those we know who are ill at home or in the hospital, remembering especially…
-
And others we may name out loud, or in our hearts…
-
God of love:
Hear our prayer.
For all who have died, remembering especially…
-
that they may be welcomed into eternal life and share in the joy of God presence forever. God of love:
Hear our prayer.
Gracious Shepherd, by your grace you have raised us up, and enthroned us with Christ in the heavenly realm. Hear the prayers we offer you this day, and grant that we may know the kindness of your care, and the riches of your glory, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.
The Prayer over the Gifts
Let us pray,
Eternal God,
by your grace you have raised us up
and enthroned us with Christ in the heavenly realms.
Receive all we offer you this day,
and lead us in those good works
for which you have created us.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
we remember his death,
we proclaim his resurrection,
we await his coming in glory;
As our Saviour taught us,
let us pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
We break this bread
to share in the body of Christ.
We, being many, are one body,
for we all share in the one bread.
The gifts of God for the People of God.
Thanks be to God.
508: I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say
Let us pray,
Almighty God,
you have made us a royal priesthood
in the kingdom of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Make known his victory through us, we pray,
that all the world may see his light.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.
Glory to God,
whose power, working in us,
can do infinitely more
than we can ask or imagine.
Glory to God from generation to generation,
in the Church and in Christ Jesus,
for ever and ever. Amen.
Christ our King
make you faithful and strong to do his will,
that you may reign with him in glory;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always. Amen.
Go forth into the world,
rejoicing in the power of the Spirit.
Thanks be to God.
