Hymn: Here I Am to Worship
The Collect of the Day
Let us pray.
Lord God our redeemer,
who heard the cry of your people
and sent your servant Moses
to lead them out of slavery,
free us from the tyranny of sin and death,
and by the leading of your Spirit
bring us to our promised land;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The Proclamation of the Word: Mark 10:46-52
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
They came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stood still and said, "Call him here." And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take heart; get up, he is calling you." So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. Then Jesus said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said to him, "My teacher, let me see again." Jesus said to him, "Go; your faith has made you well." Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Sermon
The Prayers of the People
Let us pray to God through our Lord, Jesus the Christ, saying:
Hear our prayer.
For the Church: especially Linda, our
Primate, and Sandra, our bishop, that we may experience Christ’s call and move
from darkness into greater light in our lives. God of
love.
Hear our prayer.
For this Parish of St. Paul’s, that we
who have received mercy and healing from Jesus, may lovingly extend the same to
others. God of love.
Hear our prayer.
For all who are searching for God,
that their eyes and hearts may be opened to the many signs of God’s love for
them. God of love.
Hear our prayer.
For greater respect for God's work of
creation, that we may always be mindful that all the earth is God's gift to us,
and that we are responsible for its care. God of love.
Hear our prayer.
For world leaders, that their
gathering on climate change will outline new paths for protecting the earth for
future generations. God of love.
Hear our prayer.
For all who are blinded by fear and
prejudice, for those who sit on the sideline, that we may work together to
bring about a real chance for truth and reconciliation with First Nations
people. God of love.
Hear our prayer.
For all in need of our prayers, for
those we know who are ill at home or in the hospital, remembering especially,
-
…and others we may name out loud, or in our hearts…
-
that you will free their hearts from fear, and help them to live life fully. God of love.
Hear our prayer.
For those who have died in God’s
peace, especially,
-
… that they may rejoice with songs of joy in God's eternal presence. God of love.
Hear our prayer.
God of compassion, hear the prayers we
offer this day and restore our vision that we may see and embrace the faith
that makes us well, and follow Christ on the way that leads to eternal life,
who with you and the Holy Spirit are One God, living and true. Amen.
Confession and Absolution
Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.
Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon
and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Peace
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.

The Great Thanksgiving: Eucharistic
Prayer 2
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
We give you thanks and praise,
almighty God, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer.
He is your living Word, through whom you have created all things.
By the power of the Holy Spirit he
took flesh of the Virgin Mary and shared our human nature. He lived and died as
one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.
In fulfilment of your will he
stretched out his hands in suffering, to bring release to those who place their
hope in you; and so he won for you a holy people.
He chose to bear our griefs and
sorrows, and to give up his life on the cross, that he might shatter the chains
of evil and death, and banish the darkness of sin and despair. By his
resurrection he brings us into the light of your presence.
Now with all creation we raise our
voices to proclaim the glory of your name.
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Holy and gracious God, accept our
praise, through your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ; who on the night he was
handed over to suffering and death, took bread and gave you thanks, saying,
“Take, and eat: this is my body which is broken for you.” In the same way he
took the cup, saying, “This is my blood which is shed for you. When you do
this, you do it in memory of me.”
Remembering, therefore, his death and
resurrection, we offer you this bread and this cup, giving thanks that you have
made us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you.
We ask you to send your Holy Spirit
upon the offering of your holy Church. Gather into one all who share in these
sacred mysteries, filling them with the Holy Spirit and confirming their faith
in the truth, that together we may praise you and give you glory through your
Servant, Jesus Christ.
All glory and honour are yours, Father
and Son, with the Holy Spirit in the holy Church, now and for ever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
As our Saviour taught us,
let us pray,
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
