Prayers of the People
We have been called, by the grace of God, to offer prayers on behalf of the world and the church, saying: Hear our prayer.

We pray for this holy gathering and for the people of God in every place. In our cycle of prayer we pray for Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador. In our Diocese we pray for the people of the parishes of St. Mark’s; and the Church of the Apostles, Halifax. We give thanks for those who are being ordained Deacons at the All Saints Cathedral this week. We pray for the people of our companion parish of St. Michael and All Angels, Pierrefonds, Que. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We thank you O Lord for your Holy Spirit moving over the waters in the beginning and that, by your Word all things were called into being. May the water that springs forth from the bounty of your love always be seen as a matter of justice; that all may have access to the fresh, clean water that sustains life and health. May we be open to the ways your Spirit continues to move in creation and among us.  We thank you for your blessing; may we be renewed with compassion and love by your Spirit.
God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We thank you O Lord for the waters of baptism, by which we are joined to the Body of Christ and marked as yours forever. We pray for the Church: that we may be a transformative presence to all who grieve or suffering; that we may show a true spirit of hospitality to the stranger, the seeker, and those returning to this fold. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We thank you O Lord for blessing us with the skill and knowledge, and the will to help all who have suffered losses through storms, tornadoes or floods: and we pray that you will renew their spirit, give them strength, and help them rebuild their lives. We also pray for all who are suffering from famine or drought: that you will relieve their suffering, bring rain and bountiful crops, and open the pathway for supplies. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We thank you O Lord for the cool water that refreshes and heals. We pray for those we know who are ill at home or in the hospital, especially;

And others we may name out loud or in our hearts…
-
We pray for all who have died in your peace: that they may know the fullness of life with you.
-
God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We thank you O Lord for your Son, who gives the water that becomes in us a spring of water gushing up to eternal life; water that quenches spiritual thirst, water from the well of living water. We pray for the vulnerable and powerless: for the ministry of the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund, particularly for the efforts to ensure clean water for all. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

We thank you O Lord for glaciers, white capped mountains, springs, lakes, ponds, swamps, wells, brooks, creeks, rivers, lagoons, deltas, oceans… We thank you for rain barrels… and because of the need every living creature has for H2O, we pray for all who govern: that your Spirit will guide them as they develop policies about water. We pray for peace: that anger and hatred will be healed; that violence and oppression will stop; that opportunities for reconciliation and cooperation amongst nations, races, and faith communities will be fostered. God of love:
Hear our prayer.

Lord God, the well-spring of life, pour into our hearts the living water of your grace. By your light we see light. Increase our faith, and grant that we may walk in the brightness of your presence; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
